Soon, we hope, the weather will soften and places like 2 Dips & A Shake, at 321 W. Main St., which has reopened after several weeks of renovations, will have lines of customers wanting its newest flavors, Maker’s Mark Butterscotch Ripple and Maker’s 46 Butter Pecan. Former Maker’s Mark president Bill Samuels Jr., had a hand in concocting the first flavor, which will compete with the bourbon butter pecan formulated by his son Rob Samuels, the current president.

2 Dips & A Shake serves Arctic Scoop ice cream (its store is at 841 S Hurstbourne Pkwy.), which assisted in formulating the new flavors.   Other Arctic Scoop flavors served include  chocolate malt, strawberry, coffee dark fudge swirl, cake batter and caramel sea salt brownie.

The new flavors include only about 1 percent bourbon, which makes them perfectly legal for any age.

2 Dips & A Shake plans other Bourbon-inspired flavors in a program they call Select Distillers’ releases, and is working with Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Angel’s Envy, and other Bourbon brands for future flavor ideas.
