Craft beer Week, the celebration of the local brewers’ art and science, runs from today, Sept 11 through Sunday, Sept. 20 – a very long week, no matter how you parse it, but that is all to the good, for there are too many events to pack into just 7 days – almost 75 events, 7 1/2 each day.

There will be special keg openings and tap takeovers, unusual and hard-to-get brews from around the country as well as the opening of the area’s newest brewery, Akasha Brewing Company.

Lots of entertainment is scheduled, beer-oriented (beer trivia and beer bingo at Crescent Hill Craft House) and otherwise (a pumpkin carving contest to go with pumpkin ale at Flanagan’s Ale House; Yappy Hour Humane Society Fundraiser at Apocalypse Beer Works.; Germantown Shotgun Fest at Eiderdown). And the Natijonal Jug Band Jubilee will perform at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater on the river.
