Dave & Buster’s, the family entertainment, gaming and fun complex that incidentally serves food, is planning a major renovation of space at Mall St. Matthews to accommodate all the planned fun.

According to a story in the Courier-Journal, Dave & Buster’s may occupy up to 60,000 square feet on the mall’s second level in the area near the cinemas, enough space to be deemed a mall “anchor.”

The Forever 21 store that now occupies that space will voluntarily shrink down to about a third of its present size, and restructure itself on the lower level.

Dave & Buster’s, a chain with 90 or so other locations, is expected to open next March or April.

The business calls itself a “family-friendly chain offering a sports-bar-style setting for American food and arcade games.” It offers sports viewing and games, with play areas that include bowling, billiards, and skee-ball.

The restaurant section will have a full bar; the D&B specialty is margaritas. The menu includes wings, pizza, soups, salads, burgers, steaks, seafood, ribs and chicken.
