The classic neighborhood bar and grill at 2224 Dundee Rd. in the Douglass LoopIt has been the Dundee Gastropub for a year or so, but as of Oct. 1, it will revert to its former identity, the Dundee Tavern, as new ownership takes over.

Susan Conway and Chris Ross, veterans of The Bristol organization, bought the business in late 2014 after the death of its owner, Terri Wilhelm Detenber, and updated the menu, moving away from the standard pub grub to more contemporary fare.

The change did fairly well, but after Ross decided to leave the business earlier this year, Conway, now the full owner, got overloaded trying to juggle the business and her family life, as reported in Insider Louisville.  As of the first of October, Alan Hincks, a long-time regular at the old Dundee Tavern, is the new owner, who intends to restore the old name, and change the menu back to the one that pleased so many regulars over the years.

Hincks is a neighborhood resident with restaurant experience who was a friend of the former owner. His plans are to return the business to being a family-friendly restaurant with a neighborhood sports bar  pub feel.
