Earth Friends Cafe, the vegetarian and vegan-friendly lunch spot that has led a peripatetic existence (it started in New Albany on Grant Line Rd., moved to NuLu, and most recently took up residence in the corner space of the Kentucky International Convention Center on Third St.) is on the move again. It has closed its downtown location at the Convention Center, and is set to reopen in the space that had been New Albanian Brewing Co.‘s Bank Street Brewhouse.

Owner Stacie Bale, who grew up in New Albany, has known New Albanian Brewing Co. partners Kate Lewison and Amy Baylor for many years, and talks about relocating the business began with Lewison and Baylor visited the restaurant to thank Bale for carrying their beer.

Last May Bank Street Brewhouse closed its kitchen. It experimented with guest chefs, pop-up restaurants and food trucks, and most recently had Taco Punk’s Gabe Sowder settle in for a bit. The owners think the new idea will be a better fit.

Bale hopes to finish some renovations and kitchen redesign by the end of March. Earth Friends will be open six days per week, starting around lunchtime through the evenings. Bale said she is working on some food offerings, such as beer chili, which would be made with New Albanian beer.
