The Original Makers Club, a local life-style publication that both reports on and creates interesting social engagements around the area, will host its inaugural annual Kentucky Kicks Ass Derby Kick-Off party April 23, from 7-10 p.m., at Farmington Historic Home, 3033 Bardstown Road. There will be bourbon, of course, and bluegrass music and fried chicken.

“It’s a celebration of all things Kentucky,” says OMC’s Josh Merideth. “We wanted to do an event about our roots.”

Feast BBQ is serving up the fried chicken, something owner Ryan Rogers. doesn’t serve in his restaurants in New Albany and in NuLu, but he and his kitchen team has been experimenting with different brines, techniques and seasonings, and will serve a variety of chicken options at the event.

Bluegrass band The Wooks from Lexington will perform, and Bulleit Bourbon will be crafting bourbon cocktails. All proceeds from the event will benefit Farmington.

Tickets are $50. More information go to www.theoriginalmakersclub.com.
