Kilimanjaro Foods launching artisanal cocktail syrup line at Marketplace party

Like good drinks—non-alcohol included? You’ll find this interesting and tasty.

Louisville’s own Kilimanjaro Foods, a maker of African-Inspired all natural, gourmet quality sauces, syrups and condiments to chefs, bartenders and home cooks, is launching an Artisanal Syrup line this week during a big ol’ party at Marketplace Restaurant at Theater Square.

For some time, Kilimanjaro owner Susan Herlin has worked to recreate an African ginger drink she had while traveling the continent, and she’s finally hit on it in the form of Sunrise Ginger Syrup.

Want to taste it?

The party begins at 5 p.m. July 31, as in Wednesday, and it ends at 8 p.m. If you go you’ll get some light hors d’oeuvre and specialty cocktails made from Larceny Bourbon.

If you’ve ever sipped cocktails at Jack’s Lounge or Equus, you are likely familiar with Kilimanjaro syrups. Bar manager Joy Perrine, also co-author of The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book, requested the company create a Brown Sugar syrup she could use and promote in her recipes as a retail product.

Since then, bartenders and mixologists nationwide have added their own opinions and ideas to help Kilimanjaro Foods Inc. expand the cocktail syrup line into such unique flavor combinations as Honey Pomegranate, Pumpkin Spice and Orange Ginger. Kilimanjaro Foods Artisanal Cocktail Syrups are available at a variety of national grocery and gourmet specialty stores such as Kroger and Whole Foods Markets.

Sweet, no?
