New Wave Burritos, the late-night burrito delivery service that has been operating out of borrowed kitchen spaces at Eiderdown and The Cure Lounge since late 2014, has moved into its own space for the first time, at 3311 Preston Hwy. Those in the know will recognize that address as the first permanent home of Grind Burger Kitchen, which is now in NuLu at 829 E. Market St.

An expanded menu is in the works as well. In addition to the 5 signature burritos that have made a name for New Wave Burritos — The Basher, The Clive, The Vacation, The Garbage Burrito and the Tourist — new items include tacos, tortas  and chicharrones.

Look also for some interesting specials, such as Pizza Burrito, a tortilla stuffed with garlic breadsticks covered in marinara sauce, mushrooms, pickled jalapeños, Italian sausage, pepperoni, scallions and mozzarella cheese. Or the Twinkie Tres Leches.  Or the Ramen Burrito, the Germantown, or the Breakfast Burrito, all of which have been recent specials.

Though New Wave will be in their own space, it will not be a dine-in/carry-out set up. Delivery to the area around Germantown will continue; the new site is even more central to their core constituency of late night noshers.

Hours are 6 p.m.-midnight Tuesday and Wednesday; 6 p.m.-2 a.m. Thursday; and 6-p.m.- 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Lunch service might be in the cards if the new location develops well.
