Soon, River House Restaurant and Raw Bar and Levee at the River House, 3015 River Rd., will offer dockside service for boats that dock at one of the restaurants’ eight boat slips. The expansion of serving downhill to the riverside is part of a larger riverfront expansion that has added more outdoor seating to the already large restaurant.

John Varanese’s restaurant now has almost twice the patio space it originally had.  It is now able to seat up to 300 people, according to the restaurant. There is also a new full-service outdoor bar, and the riverside patio area now sports Adirondack chairs for leisurely mojito sipping while watching the river traffic, and lawn games for those who are feeling active.

Owner John Varanese is apparently among those with an activity gene, for he is already planning an expansion of the parking lot, and he has plans for an 11,000-square-foot space on the second floor for private events, according to a story in the Courier-Journal. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/2017/05/22/river-house-restaurant-starts-dockside-service-plans-expansion/336767001/
