Himalayan Restaurant open now

In a rather quick turn-around, especially by restaurant-renovating standards, Himalayan Restaurant opened yesterday at 1578 Bardstown Rd., in the space that had been Brownie’s The Shed sports bar. Though the owner, Teknath Niraula, is from Nepal, which is reflected in the name of his restaurant, his menu focus will be primarily on northern Indian cuisine, along with some Thai dishes. Himalayan food on Bardstown Rd.? Maybe

The Bardstown Rd. outlet for the local sports bar concept Brownie’s the Shed closed earlier this year, leaving a gap in the array of food and drinking establishments in that block of The Highlands. A bunch of new restaurants open now: America. The Diner., Brownie’s New Albany, Fontleroy’s, Joella’s

Recent restaurant openings have come in a flurry, both totally new places, and new outlets of established businesses, here in Louisville and across the river in Southern Indiana. Third Brownie’s The Shed to open in New Albany

It all began with a group of friends helping Keith Brown build a storage shed. That shed morphed into a gathering place for those friends and their families to grill up some food and down a few beers. Now, in the last few years, a business has grown with locations in the East End at 237 Whittington Pkwy. in Hurstbourne Plaza, and at 1578 Bardstown Rd, in the Highlands.  Now a third location of Brownie’s The Shed will open at 826 W.
