Copper and Kings, 1211 E. Washington St, will present a showing of the 2000 comedy Chocolat Friday at 7 p.m. and mirror the protagonist’s intention to tempt you with chocolate delicacies by offering 3 tastings of Copper and Kings spirits paired with Art Eatables fine chocolates. The event is for 21 + and tickets are $15.
Copper and Kings is promoting Brandon O’ Daniel to the position of Master Distiller four years after he was named Head Distiller in February 2014. He is a Kentucky-distilling thoroughbred with a bloodline that goes back four generations. His great-grandfather was distilling in the 1920’s, and his confiscated still is rumored to be the largest in Kentucky history; the condenser “worm” of that still is believed to be stored at a Kentucky historical society. Brandon’s grandfather started in the Kentucky wine business in the 80’s, and his family remains in the Kentucky wine business today.
Fat Tuesday and Galentine’s Day fall on the same day this year, and I’m tempted to crack the joke that women everywhere will be quick to call it PHAT Tuesday (Pretty Hot And Tempting), but that’s a joke with a limited audience. You can read a few suggestions for Galentine’s Day here, but today we’re flashing some Fat Tuesday and other Mardis Gras celebrations for your wild abandon.
