Delicious Four Roses Rose Julep Cocktail Competition Thursday

I am forever grateful for the day I learned of mint julep (crushed ice, mellow Bourbon, simple syrup and fresh mint, all muddled together in a silver julep cup) variations thanks to the annual Four Roses Rose Julep Cocktail Competition, which returns for its 15th running this Thursday, March 1 at Mellwood Arts Center.  I was not a fan of the classic drink until I tried one of the variations with chocolate. Four Roses and the Kentucky Derby Festival have partnered together again this year to find out which of eight Louisville  bartenders will deliver the best twist at  the Kentucky Derby Festival’s “Festival Unveiled” event, beginning at 5 p.m.

Support Kosair Charities while you enjoy the three “B’s”: bacon, bourbon, and beer

Enjoy three favorites with B3 Bash: A Celebration of Bacon, Bourbon, & Beer which will benefit Kosair Charities, on Saturday January 20 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Mellwood Arts Center, 1860 Mellwood Ave.   Guests will enjoy bacon creations by 15 local chefs and restaurants, signature cocktails from Four Roses Bourbon and Woodford Reserve, a variety of craft beer from West Sixth Brewing, and wine from Old 502 winery.

May 18 Bacon Ball moves to Oxmoor Farm to handle swelling crowd

The Louisville Visual Arts Association’s third-annual Bacon Ball is leaving the Louisville Water Tower site for more a spacious pen at Oxmoor Farm, located just behind Oxmoor Mall.
