Next week, two more-than-usually interesting wine events are taking place, both well worth the attention of budding wine enthusiasts. LouVino’s Highlands location will host a wine dinner featuring natural, unfiltered wines on Tuesday, Sept. 19, and Brasserie Provence will host a tasting of three red Bordeaux on Wednesday, Sept. 20. A good week for special dinners

Late summer seems to energize local chefs and stimulate their desire to stretch and try some new things, which they then put on menus for special dinners. This week you can try pairings of wine with international barbecue dishes at LouVino, taste a range of wines from the Languedoc region of France at Brasserie Provence, try out a little-known Italian wine varietal (and help save Golden Retrievers) at a benefit dinner at Cuvée Wine Table and support food literacy at the Food Literacy Project Field-to-Fork Dinner. New Year’s Eve specials; reserve now

 Here are the New Year’s specials that we have heard about so far. There still might be time to reserve a space.

  • Both LouVino locations, at 1606 Bardstown Rd. and 11400 Main St. in Douglass Hills, are accepting reservations for all party sizes for New Year’s Eve. The evening will include a prix fixe 4-course dinner featuring seasonal dishes with Southern influences from executive chef Tavis Rockwell. Specially-selected optional wine pairings will be available, as well as the regular wine flights, wine list and signature cocktails.

New menus featured at Butchertown Grocery, LouVino

Butchertown Grocery, 1076 E. Washington St. introduced a new summer lunch menu recently, and LouVino, 1606 Bardstown Rd. has tweaked its evening offerings to suit the new season.
