Royals Hot Chicken shakes down with week of soft openings

(Joella’s was the first hot chicken emporium to enter the market, opened by Tony Palombino last fall). Royals will end its soft opening trial run today, 5-9 p.m., at 736 E. Market St., in the location that most recently was Taco Punk. Continue reading Royals Hot Chicken shakes down with week of soft openings

Was all this chicken ruckus caused by last year’s Fried Chicken Throw Down that closed Resurfaced?  The surprisingly popular cook-off will be repeated again tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 17, noon to 5 p.m., at this year’s Resurfaced location at the north end of 10th street, right on the river. Established chefs Susan Hershberg and John Varanese are looking to open new restaurant concepts, the guys behind Doc Crow’s have two big projects in the works, and suddenly spicy hot fried chicken is all the rage, as Ryan Rogers plans to start frying in NuLu.
