Winston’s international dinner to benefit Junior Achievement

Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Winston’s, 3101 Bardstown Rd. on the Sullivan University campus will host a dinner featuring dishes from the food traditions of six countries.

The $50 “boarding pass” (which is partially tax deductible) will allow guests to roam through six rooms, each devoted to the cuisine of nations such as Portugal, Italy and France. Winston’s hosts Orin Swift Cellars wine dinner

Thursday, Sept. 25. Chef John Castro of Winston’s, 3101 Bardstown Rd on the Sullivan University campus, will offer a 5-course menu paired with wines from the Orin Swift Cellars, which crafts interesting wines from California grapes, as well as from grapes grown in its vineyards in the Southwest of France. Celebrate the 4th with Winston’s specials

Winston’s, 3010 Bardstown Rd, on the Sullivan U. campus, is celebrating the July 4th holiday weekend with special All-American dishes. John Castro and his kitchen crew will be serving up a patriotic dinner menu on Saturday, July 5, and special brunch menus Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6.

At the dinner, you can have both Manhattan and New England style clam chowder, fire cracker shrimp, Maryland crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, a Victory Garden Salad, a “Not Brown” (made with fried green tomatoes, shrimp, bacon and mornay sauce), grilled New York strip steak and All-American apple pie a la mode. Single Barrel Bourbon Tasting at Winston’s

Friday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. Winston’s Restaurant, 3101 Bardstown Rd., will host a rare tasting of single barrel Bourbons from Brown-Forman and Buffalo Trace.

The tasting event , which will cost $45, will consist of  one-ounce pours of four distinct single barrel bourbons, Old Forester, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, Weller 7-year Reserve and Buffalo Trace 9-year. The barrels were chosen by Jerry Rogers, owner of Party Mart, who will lead sippers through the tasting. Whiskey samplers will also be served a tasting plate of food prepared by Winston chefs. New soup buffet at Winston’s Restaurant

Winston’s Restaurant will offer its annual soup buffet to holiday shoppers with the goal of providing a quick and easy lunch — with a shopping option.

On Dec. 6th and 15th from 11 am to 2 pm, the restaurant at Sullivan university, 3101 Bardstown Road, will offer a soup buffet for $7 with five options from chef John Castro. Among the varieties returning this year are apple and carrot; mushroom and chestnut; and creamy potato. The buffet includes fresh bread and cookies from The Bakery at Sullivan University.
