One of the more important and vigorous charitable organizations in town, APRON, Inc, will hold is 3rd Annual Taste of Independents fundraiser Sunday, July 30, 1-4 p.m. at The Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Ave. APRON provides financial assistance to employees in the independent service industry who find themselves in financial need through no fault of their own. Since restaurants often cannot provide benefits like medical insurance, APRON steps in when accidents or illness strikes restaurant workers.

In a press release, APRON Inc. President, Gary Fox stated, “I love this event – it is our big yearly showcase where we raise funds for our program of helping Independent Restaurants Workers in times of need, and to shine a spotlight on the immense talent of our Independent chefs. Louisville is increasingly becoming known for its culinary scene and it’s our honor and privilege to get so many chefs in one place.”

The event will have live entertainment by the Robbie Bartlett Duo and a silent auction. Tickets, $50 in advance and $60 at the door, can be purchased here.
