Tuscan wine dinner at Lilly’s

Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 27 and 28, 1147 Lilly’s, Bardstown Rd., will host special guest chefs Gina Stipo and Lea Ann Vessels who will create a 5-course Italian dinner featuring the foods and wines of Tuscany.

Gina Stipo has lived for 14 years in Siena, and runs Ecco La Cucina, a cooking school there. Gina has recently relocated to Louisville. Lea Ann Vessels imports premium olive oils and balsamic vinegar under the Oliva Bella label.

The dinner will begin with an antipasti mista, a mixed antipasti platter, which will include panzanella (a bread and tomato salad), finocchiona (salami with fennel seed), prosciutto di San Daniele con ficchi (prosciutto with figs), and prosciutto d’anatra (house-made duck prosciutto).

The pasta course will be ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a sage butter sauce, followed by the entree, porchetta con Erbe, a roasted pork loin, shoulder and belly with Tuscan herbs, served with summer vegetables.

In the European manner, the salad course will follow, a garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette.  The Dolce, or dessert, will be a lavender-infused panna cotta with fresh peaches and Oliva Bella balsamic vinegar.

The dinner and wine pairings chosen by David DuBou of Vintner Select will be $80. Call (502) 451-0447.
